TAN CHONG GROUP COVID-19'S ANNOUNCEMENT ON EXTENSION OF MOVEMENT CONTROL ORDER (MCO) IN MALAYSIA

    TAN CHONG GROUP

The Malaysian Government has on Thursday, 23 April 2020, announced that the Movement Control Order (MCO) which is currently in its 3rd Phase, will be extended by another two weeks, to its 4th Phase, from 29 April to 12 May 2020.

In response to the government’s efforts to control the spread of infection under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and the Police Act 1967, Tan Chong Group, which is not included under the ‘essential services’ category, will fully adhere to the MCO’s guidelines. We will continue to extend the closure of all our office premises, showrooms, service centres and production plants in Malaysia until 12 May 2020. However, as some of our businesses such as spare parts, trucks and after-sales have been approved by the relevant authorities to resume operations, we will update our customers, business partners and vendors accordingly via on-line technology tools such as social media, short messaging services, telephone calls and emails. Although we are operating temporarily in a ‘new norm’ working environment, we have a team of dedicated employees who are working from home and remain committed to serving you. Our operating hours for roadside assistance and towing services will remain 24-hours / 7-days a week. We will continue to monitor the situation and updates from the relevant authorities and inform our stakeholders accordingly of any new developments.

We understand that you will likely be affected by this ruling. There is no mistaking the challenges at this moment. Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), employers have a general duty to provide employees with a workplace that is free from recognised hazards likely to cause harm. This action will help protect both the public and also our employees by limiting the number of people in buildings and public spaces. We would like to assure all that we will continue to comply with the guidelines set by the Ministry of Health and will monitor the situation closely to ensure the safety and health of our stakeholders.

We wish to thank all our valuable customers, business partners and stakeholders for the continuing support and understanding during this period.

From the Management of Tan Chong Group
