TAN CHONG GROUP SIGNS A MOU WITH TAYLOR’S UNIVERSITY TO DEVELOP AND EXPAND A FRAMEWORK OF LEARNING PARTNERSHIP

Kuala Lumpur, 22 April 2019: In conjunction with Taylor’s 50th Anniversary, Tan Chong Group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Taylor’s University to develop and expand a framework of learning partnership. This MoU marks the beginning of an exciting collaborative journey with Taylor’s University to provide quality education and training courses/programmes for Tan Chong Group’s employees and their children via the Corporate Education Program (CEP). This resonates very well with the Group’s commitment to invest in our human capital to make the Group resilient and stay ahead of the curve.

The CEP arrangement entitles Tan Chong Group’s employees and their children to enjoy substantial rebates (35% off tuition fee) when they enrol in programmes at foundation, diploma, degree or even postgraduate levels at Taylor’s University. The range of programmes available for them to choose from varies and includes Business, Architecture, Hospitality & Tourism, IT, Engineering, Mass Communications, Law, Creative Arts and others. Some of the programmes are offered in partnership with universities in the United States and United Kingdom.

The MoU was signed by Dato’ Dr. Lim Weng Khuan (Director and Head of Tan Chong Education Services Sdn Bhd), Datuk Yaacob Bin Wan Ibrahim (Education Advisor of Tan Chong Education Services Sdn Bhd), Mr Ben Foo (Chief Marketing Officer of Taylor’s University) and Mr Wong Foo Hing (Director of Business Development of Tayor’s University) at Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus. Also present at the signing ceremony were employees of Tan Chong Group and Taylor’s University.

“Both Taylor’s University and Tan Chong Group share a common mission, which is to upgrade the skills of staff and students. The Corporate Education Programme aims at developing the capabilities of employees, nurturing their careers and managing the performance of individuals and teams. This is part of our continuing efforts to offer industry-relevant programmes to build up the talent pool of the nation. It also serves as an incentive to retain talents and key employees in an organisation. These objectives are in line with our HR strategy,” said Mr Ben Foo.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dato’ Dr Lim Weng Khuan congratulated Taylor’s University on its 50th Anniversary and said, “Tan Chong Group has about 12,500 employees in multiple industries, businesses and companies located in Malaysia and Indochina. We are excited about this CEP collaboration with Taylor’s as it offers abundant opportunities for our employees and their children to upgrade their knowledge and leadership/management skills to adapt to the market changes. Tan Chong Group looks forward to a fulfilling and mutually beneficial relationship with Taylor’s University. It is our desire to reciprocate by reaching out to Nissan owners to enrol with Taylor’s University in the future. With this MoU, the Group’s employees and their children are privileged to receive top quality education and simultaneously enjoy bursaries of percentage (35%) off the course fee.”

Commemorative gifts were exchanged at the end of the MoU signing ceremony. It is hoped that with this MoU, both Taylor’s University and Tan Chong Group can work closely to benefit more Malaysians at large.
