TAN CHONG MOTOR (MYANMAR) AND APM AUTO COMPONENTS MYANMAR SIGNS LAND LEASE AGREEMENTS WITH BAGO REGIONAL GOVERNMENT

BAGO, 17 February 2016 – This date marked another milestone for Tan Chong Motor Holdings Berhad and APM Automotive Holdings Berhad with the signing of a land lease agreements with the Bago Regional Government today.

This milestone will see Tan Chong Motor (Myanmar) (TCMM) and APM Auto Components Myanmar (APMAC) building and operating a vehicle assembly plant and auto components manufacturing plants in the Bago region respectively.

In his speech, TCMM’s Chairman, Y. Bhg. Dato’ Cheah Sam Kip said “With the assembly of vehicles and auto components manufacturing done locally, we are confident that it would facilitate the Myanmar Government’s efforts in enhancing its new automotive policy.”

“We are excited at the prospects that our plants in Bago will have in boosting the GDP growth of Myanmar and to see the uplifting of the local economy and the prosperity of its peoples. A stronger and more resilient economy will, in our view, attract more foreign direct investments (FDI) which will spur an economic growth with more industries choosing Myanmar as a new investment destination”, he added.

This momentous ceremony was attended by senior executives from Tan Chong, APM and Nissan Motor together with H.E. U Nyan Win, Chief Minister of Bago along with Bago Regional Government officials and H.E. Mr Mohd Haniff Abdul Rahman, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

In August 2013, Myanmar Investment Commission (MIC) had awarded licenses to both TCMM and APMAC to assemble and market Nissan vehicles; and to manufacture auto components in Myanmar respectively.
