NISSAN TERRA – WINNER OF BEST LARGE-SIZED FAMILY SUV AT THE 2019 MYANMAR CAR OF THE YEAR AWARDS
November 2019, Yangon – Edaran Tan Chong Motor (Myanmar) Co., Ltd. (“ETCMM”), Distributor of Nissan vehicles and a wholly owned subsidiary of Tan Chong Motor Holdings Berhad (Malaysia); won the “Best Large-size Family SUV Category”.

Nissan Terra, which is fully imported, outshone their respective competitors based on the MCOTY Awards’ criteria (exterior and interior design, performance, functionality, comfort, handling and value for money).
The 2.5L, full seven seater SUV is equipped with Nissan Intelligent Mobility and other safety technologies :
Intelligent Around View Monitor (i-AVM) – uses four cameras installed around the TERRA to give you a 360-degree top view around the vehicle to assist you with parking… or maneuvering around tight spots especially when you are going off-road on rough terrains
Lane Departure Warning (LDW) – enhances your safety by making sure you only change lanes when you mean to. If this system detects that you’re drifting from your lane, it’ll give you a warning signal.
Moving Object Detection (MOD) – used the four cameras to detect moving objects around the vehicle when it is in park or slowly maneuvering; the system then alerts the driver both visually and audibly.
Hill Start Assist (HSA) – that prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards for a few seconds, providing the driver enough time to switch from the brake pedal to the accelerator.
Hill Descent Control (HDC) – helps maintain speed control in steep downhill driving by automatically adjusting your speed and brake pressure.
4-Wheel Active Brake Limited Slip (ABLS) – actively senses wheel-spin and applies braking pressure to the slipping wheel, and automatically redirects power to the other wheels with grip for plenty of help in conquering the roughest terrain..
Electronic Locking Rear Differential (ELRD) – is activated with a press of a button that gives the driver the ultimate off-road feature by powering both rear wheels equally to boost grip and keep you moving forward.
6 SRS Airbags – Driver and Front Passenger, Dual Front Seat Side-mounted and Roof-mounted Curtain Side Shield protection for 2nd row and 3rd row.
Also equipped are 4-Eye Rear Parking sensors, Reverse Camera, Anti-Theft system Immobilizer with VSS Alarm and Follow-Me-Home function.
Standard safety features includes Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA), Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), Child Safety Lock and Zone Body Construction (combines Front Crushable impact absorbing zone structure with high-strength cabin structure to mitigate impact and provide protection for you and your passengers).
The TERRA is ideal for this region as its top ground clearance, at 225 millimeters, reduces the risk of damage from rough, uneven roads and from driving in flooded areas.
The 2019 Myanmar Car of the Year Awards, held in Junction Square, involved a panel of expert judges are from across Myanmar and neighboring countries and early 300 guests and stakeholders from car companies attended this event. There were fifteen award categories which included Best Family Sedan, Best Small Family SUV, Best Medium Size SUV, Best Large Size Family SUV, Best Family MPV, Best Small Car, Best City Car, Best City SUV, Best Premium SUV, Best Luxury SUV, Best Premium MPV/MPC, Best Pick-Up, Jury’s Choice, People Choice (via an online poll), and Brand of the Year.
