Edaran Tan Chong Motor is Ready to Embark on Rainforest Challenge 2016
KUALA LUMPUR, 25 November 2016 – Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (ETCM) will contest in the Rainforest Challenge (RFC) 2016, showcasing The Ultimate Pickup Nissan Navara geared with Ironman 4×4 accessories at a media event today in Publika Shopping Gallery.
Organized by RFC, the media event presented a wide variety of models and activities such as Nissan Navara Official RFC 2016 Car, RFC Enduro Trophy motorbikes, the EarthCruiser from USA, Flash Mob Dancers, and UTV/ATV machines as well as other 4×4 vehicles which will endure the RFC 2016 challenging trails.
The 4×4 participants for RFC 2016 comes from the world over including Venezuela, USA, Colombia, Australia, and European countries like Austria, Poland, Russia, Bulgaria, Hungary and Italy. Not forgetting Asia’s strong participations from China, Vietnam, Brunei, Philippines, Thailand, Japan, Korea, Sri Lanka, India, Singapore and Malaysia.
Among those, driving the Nissan Navara is Fabiana Martins and Julieth Zanelato, the T3000 (Terminator super machines) generation of Ladies of Steel from Brazil, also known as The “Amazonia” Ladies of Steel. Living up to the names of the earlier T1000 & T2000 ladies of steel in RFC, these women are the first women team from their motherland to battle against the odds here in RFC 2016 Malaysia. The duo possesses “Amazonian” willpower, strength and perseverance to fare against the rest of the contenders plus having remarkable experience in 4×4 competitions.
As mentioned by Fabiana, “It’s an opportunity to show the talent & prowess of an all women team in an extreme race of this nature. So, we will fight “tooth & nail” all the way to finish while enjoying the camaraderie of the RFC, unique and unequal to any 4×4 event anywhere in the world. Getting mud in our faces is not for cosmetic purpose or just having fun, this is the real thing”.
RFC 2016 will be followed by a technical check and flag-off session at Dataran Merdeka to Pahang, starting off in Kuantan for the opening Prologue Special Stages on the 27th November which furthers into a nine-day hard-core adventure – The Twilight Zone (TZ). TZ was planned this year as the longest in history, at the north-western part of Pahang connecting to Cameron Highlands. A Tactical Operations Centre (TAC) will also be set up at the Brigade Tenggara of the General Operations Force of the Royal Malaysian Police at Bukit Galing, Kuantan to monitor the entire 10 days of the RFC this year.

In this entire RFC 2016, ETCM will showcase three units of Nissan Navara geared with Ironman 4×4 accessories; one unit contesting in RFC 2016, and two other units as official cars in supporting the overall RFC operational and transportation management.
With a maximum power output of 163 PS and torque of 403Nm/2,000rpm, the bespoke Nissan Navara units are kept standard as possible with only required outfit equipment for contest such as front steel bull bars, electric winches, rear protection steel bars, spot lights, recovery kits, mud terrain tyres, Foam Cell Suspension system and snorkel. Two of the three units are the 2.5L SE with 7-Speed Auto Transmission and one 2.5L SE with 6-Speed Manual Transmission.
