TAN CHONG GROUP DONATES A NISSAN URVAN TO THE PURE LIFE SOCIETY

Kuala Lumpur, 29 December 2018: The most precious sight and sound are the smile and laughter of a child. However, not everyone is born fortunate. In line with Tan Chong Group’s corporate sustainability vision in empowering and developing local community in which we operate, the Group recently donated a 14-seater Nissan Urvan to The Pure Life Society as their mode of transportation in sending the underprivileged children to school, hospital, their extra-curricular activities and especially during an emergency.

Tan Chong Group had donated two similar vans to them in 1995 and 2011. A handover ceremony for the van was held at Pure Life’s premises in Jalan Puchong, Kuala Lumpur. Representing Tan Chong was its General Manager of Edaran Tan Chong Motor Sdn Bhd (Central Region) Mr Ryan Tan Lian Chin while Pure Life Society was represented by its president Datin Paduka A. Mangalam Iyaswamy Iyer. The ceremony was also witnessed by Pure Life Society committee members and Tan Chong representatives.

The Pure Life Society, founded in 1949 by Swami Satyanandaji, runs an orphanage which houses, amongst others, abandoned children and those from broken homes. For the past 50 years, Datin Paduka “Mother” Mangalam has been instrumental in bringing together single-parent and abandoned children under one roof and providing them with an education and ensuring their welfare is taken care of. Mother Mangalam has been the role “mother” to many orphans. The home houses 40 boys and girls in four dormitories according to their respective age group and sex.

Children of today are the leaders of tomorrow. Tan Chong Group is committed to helping underprivileged groups and individuals through selfless collaborative initiatives and projects.
