TAN CHONG GROUP HELPS RAISE AWARENESS WITH A DONATION TO BREAST CANCER WELFARE ASSOCIATION

Petaling Jaya, 28 May 2019 – According to the Malaysian Study on Cancer Survival (MySCan) Report 2018 by Health Ministry, cancer has been found to be the fourth leading cause of death in Malaysia and breast cancer is the most common form of malignancy affecting women (Malaysian National Cancer Registry Report 2011).

In an effort to promote Breast Cancer Awareness as Tan Chong Group understands the plight of the cancer patients who struggled for a living, the Group has donated RM10,000 to Breast Cancer Welfare Association’s (BCWA).

The mock cheque presentation ceremony was held at BCWA’s office at Petaling Jaya and was attended by Ms Koh Lay Hoon, Executive Vice President of Finance, Operations & Control Division and Ms Maria Jocelyn, head of Medical & Occupational Health Services Department from Tan Chong Group.  President of BCWA, Ms Ranjit Kaur, Vice President of BCWA, Janet Khor, Community Outreach Services Manager of BCWA, Ms Metron Salimahwere and Matron Datin Zainab were present to receive the donations.

“The fight against breast cancer requires effort and we hope these funds will aid research and relief efforts in creating awareness about breast cancer.  We will continue to support more local charities and non-governmental organisations as it is the Group’s culture to give back to the community,” said Ms Koh.

Ms Ranjit Kaur said such contributions will help to enhance public awareness on breast cancer and they are grateful for the generous donation and will use the funds to provide financial assistance and medical services for breast cancer patients nationwide.

About BCWA

BCWA also provides physical and emotional support to patients on every third Saturday of the month by organising monthly sharing session.  The cancer survivors will share their stories and tips on living with the disease.  It also has a dedicated treatment room with various prosthesis and wigs that can be sold to the patients at affordable prices.
