This is the second forum in its series organized by Energy Box, a leading vertical media company specializing in solar, wind energy storage and green hydrogen. It was organized for both leading players and new start-ups across the whole nation paving the way to a new clean decarbonized world and Malaysia is supported by its newly introduced Energy Transition Roadmap.
18 awards were presented to the recipient companies and Tan Chong Group received the award under the category Energy Transition Forerunner Enterprise, a testimony of the Group’s effort towards green energy and as a corporate philosophy supporting ESG efforts, involving the diversification of its key industrial activities towards renewal energy.
As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainability, the journey towards renewal energy began in 2016 by securing two rooftop projects under SEDA Fit Programme at APM’s Pandamaran, Klang factory and TCMA’s Serendah factory, Hulu Selangor generating a total of 1.5 MWac.
In 2021, the Group registered another milestone when it was awarded the Large-Scale Solar Photovoltaic Phase 4 Project (LSSPV4) by the Energy Commission to generate 20 MWac capacity at Serendah Retention pond after three attempts starting in 2017. This project bearing unforseen circumstances should be completed in time and connected to the national grid on 31th December 2023 which is the Date of Commercial Production under the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) signed with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) for the next 25 years until 30th December 2048.
As investor, Tan Chong Group will continues to pursue other renewable energy segment as part of its ESG efforts and contributing energy transition in Malaysia and overseas.
