TREE-PLANTING AT SJK(C) SG CHUA IN HONOUR OF TAN CHONG GROUP’S KINDNESS AND SUPPORT

KUALA LUMPUR, 26 OCTOBER 2018 – Reiterating our commitment towards the well-being of children, Tan Chong Group planted a tree and celebrated Children’s Day together with 1,600
children, teachers and Board of Directors of SJK(C) Sungai Chua in true spirit of fun and frolic on 26 October 2018.

Tan Chong Group has established its first daycare centre in SJK(C) Sungai Chua since 2008 by providing children of single parent/caregiver, a safe after-school haven to study and learn, with meals and counselling
provided. In order to commemorate and honour the Group’s initiative, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of SJK(C) Sungai Chua extended an invitation to Tan Chong Group to plant a tree together with the school’s Board of Directors in
their school compound as a mark of appreciation for all the support and commitment we’ve given to the schoolchildren all these years.

The tree-planting represents setting roots for future growth – it symbolises the roots of strong bonding between Tan Chong Group and SJK(C) Sungai Chua. Trees also represent resilience, as a tree can bend
amidst a storm, just as we can weather the daily struggles in our daily lives. It reminds the children to embrace each challenge in their lives as an opportunity for self-transformation, determination and empowerment in the future, despite the
unfortunate circumstances they are currently facing now. Moreover, this simple act of tree-planting is not only a source of inspiration and knowledge for the children and communities but it also demonstrates the
Group’s commitment to environment sustainability by creating a bond with nature.

The children serenaded everyone present with heart-warming performances as a gesture of appreciation to Tan Chong Group for their kindness and support. An oil painting drawn by the children was also presented to the
Group during the celebration.

“On behalf of the children and their families, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to Tan Chong Group for their continuous support and generous donation. Over this past decade, their contribution has
dramatically helped the children develop and succeed in future endeavours. I sincerely hope that all the students study hard and become great talents that can contribute to the society. I hope they will not forget their roots and those who
helped them. Come back and repay their generosity by assisting other needy students,” said Madam Chin Bee Hoon, headmistress of SJK(C) Sungai Chua, in her welcome speech.
